INNOVATIVE WORK

INNOVATIVE WORK

As a part of our FOURTH SEMESTER INTERNSHIP PHASE II , we have to prepare two innovative  models . Here I'm presenting my innovative works.

1. CIRBOT - A Circle drawing Robot

My first innovative work is a working model to draw circles.

CIRBOT is a machine(working model) that helps to draw circles very easily and fast. It works similar to a pair of compasses but with the help of a motor, battery and switch.

Things you need

                    Wooden stick-3
                    Geared DC Motor
                    9V battery with cap
                    Switch
Circle shaped piece( like bottle cap)- for wheels

Construction

Put a hole in the Circle shaped piece at its center and place it on the rotating end of the motor. Fix it using gum. Join the ends of two wooden sticks on the motor, as they ate in perpendicular direction. Join the third stick in between them. Fix the switch on the top of the motor. Fix the battery inside the  stick . We get the motor connected to switch at a corner and the battery on the opposite stick.

Connect the negative pole if the battery with the negative of the motor. And the positive of battery to the motor through switch. The connection are used by a battery cap.

Fix a thin pointed nail at the corner. Attach a pen/sketch with the help of a rubber band, near to the battery.

Fix the nail on a flat surface drawing sheet,  and  switch on. The pen will rotate through the paper as the wheel rotate. Finally we get a perfect circle.

And the CIRBOT is ready

When I presented  in the class , I made a circle by students so that every one can see the working of CIRBOT. Some of them drawn themselves.

2. MOVING QUADRILATERAL

My second innovative work is a working model , namely MOVING QUADRILATERAL.

All types of quadrilaterals can be shown using a simple model. Rectangle, square, parallelogram, rhombus and trapezium : all such quadrilaterals, the properties of each sides and each angles can be learn easily.

Things you need are
                    4 scales of 30 cm
                    4 -360 degree protractors
                    4 nuts and bolts

Construction

Take a scale and cut out the center part(to make a small slit along the scale). Do it with all the four scales. Then connect two scales using nut and bolt,by putting one  protractor in between them. And complete the model by connecting all the four ends to make a closed form.

By adjusting each screws and adjusting the length of sides, we can make the models as we want.

When I presented it in my class, all the students tried to make use of it at once. All of them were very exited. It was very useful for  revision on the chapter Area of quadrilaterals.

Theme: MOBILE PHONES: USES AND HAZARDSDate   : January 22, 2019

PRESENTATION

PHASE I      :Intriduction- Suvitha
PHASE II     :Mobile phones and its uses- Suhana Salim
PHASE III    :Mobile phones and internet abuse- Neena Susan Jose
PHASE IV    :Mobile phones and health- Jyolsna
PHASE V     :Mobile phones and accidents- Sissy
PHASE VI    :Mobile phones and time- Yamuna
PHASE VII   :Conclusion- Gayathri P Nair

PHASE I      :Intriduction-Suvitha

Mobile phones are undeniable today. Almost everybody has a mobile phone. Formerly, it only functioned as a portable mean of communication. The function of a mobile phone has developed into entertainment. Furthermore, mobile phone has also come into the schools. However, it has both positive and negative effect on students. This essay argues that mobile phones will bring more negative than positive effect for students. Of course, students use it as a mean of communication and sometimes for an emergency call if they need it. Yet, they would use their mobile phones for both bullying and cheating. Also, mobile phones will make students lost concentration during their study.

PHASE II     :Mobile phones and its uses-Suhana Salim

Today uses of a mobile phone can be compared with a computer. Modern mobile phone has all the facilities that a computer had. Mobile phone usage is taking a lead to a computer that it is small in size, light in weight, and can operate with minimum power.

Its component is cheap though mobile phone has limited capacity and speed. It is handy in dialing, talking, making video film, e-mailing, sending pictures etc.
They are used by students at all levels, doctors, engineers, service man, jobbers and common man and woman in their day-to-day activities. Today business is next to impossible without a mobile phone. Starting from aviation industry to service sector, the mobile phones are playing an important and vital role.

There are lots of uses of mobile phones. Mobile phones are an integral part of our daily communications. All mobile phones have the ability to voice and simple text messaging services. Their small size, relatively low cost, and many uses make these devices very valuable to advocates who are increasingly using them for communication and organization. On the other hand mobile phones especially smartphones are used to watch movies, play games, listening to music or to browse the internet as well.

PHASE III    :Mobile phones and internet abuse- Neena Susan Jose

The harmful uses of mobile phone are also misleading our teenagers. Parents should consider the age of their children before buying them mobile phones. The latest addition is Internet on mobile phones. Now our teenagers are prone to use Internet on mobile for downloading adult songs and videos. They may involve themselves in different types of crimes. Parents need to strengthen the family ties and teach moral values to their children. They should make sure that their kids use mobile phones in a proper way.
Our mobile operators are selling SIM cards without verifying customers' identity properly and that leads to various mobile related crimes. It has become an essential tool for organised crimes. Our government should make a strong law to compel mobile operators not to sell SIM cards to customers without proper verification. Our electronic media shows programmes on many irregularities and problems of our society; they should make programmes on this issue too.

PHASE IV    :Mobile phones and health- Jyolsna

Mobile phones communicate with base stations using radiofrequency (RF) radiation. If RF radiation is high enough, it has a ‘thermal’ effect, which means it raises body temperature. There are concerns that the low levels of RF radiation emitted by mobile phones could cause health problems such as headaches or brain tumours.

PHASE V     :Mobile phones and accidents- SissyP

Mobile phone use while driving is common, but it is widely considered dangerous due to its potential for causing distracted driving and crashes. Due to the number of crashesthat are related to conducting calls on a phone and texting while driving, some jurisdictions have made the use of calling on a phone while driving illegal. Many jurisdictions have enacted laws to ban handheld mobile phone use. Nevertheless, many jurisdictions allow use of a hands-free device. Driving while using a hands-free device is not safer than using a handheld phone to conduct calls, as concluded by case-crossover studies, epidemiological, simulation, and meta-analysis. In some cases restrictions are directed only at minors, those who are newly qualified license holders (of any age), or to drivers in school zones. In addition to voice calling, activities such as texting while drivingweb browsingplaying video games, or phone use in general can also increase the risk of a crash.

PHASE VI    :Mobile phones and time- Yamuna

The teenagers or students are greatly influenced by the evil side of mobile phones. Instead of using the mobile phone for their benefits some students or teenagers are seen wasting their valuable time indulging in listening to songs, playing online games, spending hours after hours in social networking sites, sending offensive messages, watching pornographic videos etc. Again some physician claims that excessive use of mobile phones can be health hazardous.

PHASE VII   :Conclusion- Gayathri P Nair

The Mobile phone is the most popular and useful gadget in present time. Though there are a few disadvantages of mobile phones, we cannot deny the usefulness or necessity of mobile phones in our day to day life.
